XFN+OpenID!

[en] Second largest social network in CIS has capped its expansion by setting a fee for registration. Could it drive open social graph systems adoption?

[en] Half of all blogs is about blogging. Now, mobile telephony seems to be sporting similar characteristics: half the calls are about mobile communications. What a gold mine is it for the tops of both industries! Half the traffic is about traffic intself!

CPP in SMS: Major hindrance today

“Calling Party Pays” (CPP) telecom paradigm looks good at first sight: you can use a premium service of which mobile telephony is a notable example, and still pay nothing for it.

Of course, it’s not completely free – a person calling or texting you pays for both ends of the link: sending of the message by them and receiving it by you. It is the popular impression of freeness which prompted speedier development in early mobile history in Europe compared to North America which has been stuck with MPP (“Mobile Party Pays”).

Now, as the world’s mobile industry matured and new business models with unusual requirements started to emerge, one of the industry’s cornerstones – CPP – seems to be breaking the progress.

Pastors are bloggers, basically

Blogging is a hot topic today. Long past the times when people boasted, “I’ve got a website”, now it’s “I’ve got a weblog“. Blogs are brisk and lively, unlike traditional websites they keep the audience tuned and entertained.

Now, Christian churches have long been like this. (Here comes the question of who’s original, but that’s another story.)

Google Earth

Registering at Technorati…

Technorati Profile

Do you know what that link above is about?

That’s me claiming my blogSTEREO-blog at Technorati (they required that link to be published here for authentication purposes).
Had to resort to that because I simply got tired of seeing my LiveJournal “mirror” featured as a “real” blog at Technorati while www.STEREO.org.ua was totally unknown there. Moreover, pinging www.STEREO.org.ua anonymously didn’t fetch any results for quite some time already.
So I finally decided to register and “claim” the blog.

Right at the beginning of the claiming process (still “in progress”) www.STEREO.org.ua got a rank 2,443,995 – as displayed within the blog owner’s control panel (displayed as 2,515,283 to the rest of the world) – with the authority of “2” (almost8hours.livejournal.com, the “mirror”, was 7,966,799 with “no authority”).

Let’s see what happens next…

UPD
Looks like “claiming” doesn’t make your blog to become known to Technorati (see links above – the pages they refer to didn’t change). I did suspect this as I never ever claimed my blog’s LJ mirror though it is known to Technorati. Is Technorati all messed up?

Top Commentators little trick

As you might have noticed already, STEREO.org.ua now offers its most active commentators a no nofollow” link.

Now, a number of probloggers have been discovered suggesting these tips for efficient promotion (for commentators‘ own sites) with the “Show Top Commentators” feature found more and more often on all kinds of blogs these days:

  • Comment under different names on the same blog.
This way you may get not one, but two (or more) links to your site. This is the biggie.
(You can also promote different pages of your site, not only the front page.)
  • Use a descriptive string in place of your name.
Personal names aren’t especially descriptive usually, better choices would be sitename or your product/service name.
  • and, of course, choose a blog with a higher Google PR – the links you earn will give you greater return on your time investments.

Happy commenting!

Most cool signature for forums, blog commenting etc

In the epoch of Web 2.0 everything has to promote you (your website). If you’ve got a t-shirt with a writing – that must be your URL. In your email signature use URL too. Right? Nope. While static URL on a t-shirt might be Ok, it is now seen so Web 1.0‘ish in any electronic media. Because electronic static means “stale” in web people’s minds.

So at the very least you should update your electronic “signatures” (snippets of text at the end of your electronic messages) very regularly – like daily – to go with the fashion. Better yet – have your signature updated even after the message has been distributed and recieved by the target audience!

To have your forum or email signature updated with the latest headlines from yuor blog use the “Headline Animator” feature by FeedBurner, so your signature may look like this:
